Dear Parents,
Hello on Day 78! As I have mentioned in previous emails, my daughter loves to bake. I, on the other hand, prefer to cook. Since I am 100% Italian, can you guess what kind of food I enjoy preparing the most? I also love to peruse Pinterest looking for new and fun recipes to try.
Cooking can provide an opportunity to strengthen the home-school connection in an authentic way. Traditions, celebrations, and culture can be shared through food.
Here are some of the benefits of cooking with children:
Cooking provides a hands on way to introduce mathematical concepts to children. These include estimating, measuring, counting, and sequencing.
Cooking helps to develop oral language skills when new vocabulary is learned and applies.
Cooking allows children to make new connections with each other and build relationships in a different context.
Cooking develops motor skills. Chopping, mixing, kneading, and stirring improves motor skillsand coordination.
Cooking develops self esteem. Being able to serve food to friends and family that they prepared is a powerful experience.
Many of our teachers include cooking in their lesson plans. Not only is cooking a wonderful way to learn; Cooking is fun! It makes for happy memories for children to look back on.
I saw this on a Good Morning Steals and Deals. They are trying to support small businesses during this difficult time. I decided to buy it. My daughter and I enjoyed making some delicious homemade Mozzarella.
Mini Pizzas
